What is an Appraiser?

Many teams are required to supply volunteers for their local tournaments. Learn about one of the roles these volunteers may fulfill.

Appraisers are the officials who provide scores and feedback at a tournament. Appraisers typically commit to one day of training and one day at a tournament. In many cases, Appraisers volunteer to represent a specific school, organization, or team at their local tournament.

There are no specific requirements for these individuals except that they must be over 18 years old and be available for the required training and for the tournament day.

If an individual is serving as an Appraiser for a team, they should not expect to be able to see that team perform, nor will they be put in a position where they are providing scores for that particular team.
