# What is an Instant Challenge?

Instant Challenges practice the same skills as Team Challenges, but over a much shorter time frame - usually about 5-10 minutes.  Teams will be asked to work together to solve a brief challenge in front of a panel of Appraisers, and they will be evaluated on the creativity, teamwork, and effectiveness of their solution. Instant Challenges are either performance-based, task-based, or both.

Teams will not know the challenge they will be completing for the tournament until they walk into the room, but teams typically practice Instant Challenges throughout their season to better prepare for the competition.  Teams are given a set of practice Instant Challenges at the beginning of the Challenge season.
