# When do teams typically begin working on their Challenge and what does the Challenge season look like?

Teams usually begin their work on or around **August 1.** Their exact practice schedule is determined by the team based on their needs and availability.

The 23-24 Challenges will be released on **August 15**. [You can view previews of these Challenges here.](https://www.destinationimagination.org/challenge-experience/challenge-previews/)

Most local tournaments fall in late February or early March. As needed, additional tournaments take place throughout March and April. [Global Finals](https://www.globalfinals.org/) take place in May each year, marking the culmination of our Challenge season.
